The Three Pillars of Resilience

Sixteen pages on the method I use with clients, boiled down to the bits you can start on this week. How you think, how you eat, how you cope. Plain, practical, and honest about where I don't have a tidy answer.

How you thinkWhat pressure does to your head, and how to catch it early.
How you eatWhat food does to your energy and mood. Not a diet.
How you copeThe trained part. Routines that hold when it goes wrong.

What's in it

  • The signs of burnout I look for, and the two-minute daily check that catches them early
  • Why "fine" is the most dangerous word you use, and what to say instead
  • The crash cycle that makes a hard week harder, and five rules that break it
  • Why pressure on its own doesn't build resilience, and what does
  • The "next checkpoint" method for when things have gone properly wrong
  • A first week, laid out. One thing from each pillar, small enough to stick

What it isn't

  • It isn't therapy, and it says so, with who to call if that's what you need
  • It isn't a diet or a meal plan
  • It isn't motivational. I don't think that works
  • It isn't the whole method. It's the start of it
Harry Hatfield

I'm Harry. I coach resilience and performance for people and for the businesses they work for. Before that, eight years in the Army including 59 Commando, coaching Junior NCOs on the Army Leadership Development Programme, response policing in London, and three businesses built from nothing.

I wrote this guide because I've had to build my own resilience, more than once, when it was tested harder than I'd have chosen. It's the method that held. The personal bits are in the guide, in boxes, and you can skip them if you just want the practical stuff.
